I started writing fiction based on my experience working with new start-up businesses. An avid reader, I realised that few novelists write about the personal and business dramas of starting and growing a business.
While running one of the UK’s top business innovation centres, I worked with hundreds of entrepreneurs. Some realised their financial dreams and others lost everything. While the business success or failure was the most visible result, I was more fascinated by the personal and family dramas that ensued. Friendships forged, marriages lost, ambitions realised, and dreams quashed - everything changes when you start your own business.
I am fortunate that my work with businesses and entrepreneurs has been recognised through numerous accolades, including the prestigious Queen’s Award in 2013. I firmly believe that my success is based on understanding the entrepreneurs’ personal challenges and being a mentor and a friend, and not just by focusing on their business needs.
Having worked extensively with “reluctant entrepreneurs,” I have been driven to share their compelling stories.
Beyond my role as an author, I work as a consultant and advisor. Currently residing in Cambridgeshire with my wife and family, I continue to work with entrepreneurs and universities, play with the grandchildren and try to make time to write my second novel.
